Naka's World Cup ambitions may be to the detriment of Celtic
Japan's win over Thailand on Saturday, together with Oman's draw with Bahrain, sent Naka and his fellow countrymen through to the final round of the Asian qualifiers for the 2010 World Cup.
With a final game with group leaders Bahrain on sunday Win,lose or draw, Japan will not be affected by the result of this game. They have already qualified
Nakamura, who loves to play for his country, was on painkillers for his injured right ankle to get through Saturday's match. He played for 70 minutes but worried about his fitness to play in that game
"It was an important game so I wanted to play," he said, "It wasn't an easy one to play in
"I was going to go as long as I could. The painkiller was going to wear off at some point, so I was worried the whole time about playing hard, more than trying to play well."
With Australia, Iran, Saudi Arabia and the two Koreas waiting for them in the autumn, Okada will need Nakamura more than ever, and like Gordon Strachan will need him to be fit.
