Gravesen :The Six Million Dollar Man
Well not exactly but worse still, it is estimated Thomas Gravesen cost Celtic £6 million during his two years at the club.He has earned more in the two years with Celtic than all of the Lions combined did in their careers with the club.
According to the Sun Gravesen cost Celtic £260,000 for every first-team game he started.
He quit Parkhead after getting the £1.2million pay-off deal he was waiting for from Peter Lawwell who reluctantly agreed to meet the former Real Madrid midfielder’s huge cash demands.
Celtic initially forked out a £2m fee to land Gravesen from Real.
Grav landed himself a £20,000-a-week deal — which went up to £40,000 every time he played, meaning his 33 appearances cost Celts £2.7m over just two years.
Add to that the former Denmark international’s pay-off deal and he amassed £6m from his time at the club.
That works out at over £260,000 for every time he was given a starting jersey.
A club statement said: “Celtic Football Club, Thomas Gravesen and Thomas’s representatives have agreed that he will part company with the club.
“Thomas wishes Celtic every success and, likewise, the club wishes Thomas all the very best for the future.”
The midfielder is now a free agent but his agent, John Sivebaek, insists a new team is not waiting in the wings.
He said: “We don’t know what will happen in the future.
Bobo must be asking himself "Can i beat that"
