Donegal Celtic are to host a Celtic XI in west Belfast this evening.The last Celtic team to visit the city was way back in 1984 when the Bhoys beat Cliftonville 4-0 at Solitude.The Celtic Bar on the Falls will be buzzing prior to the Suffolk Road glamour event.
Willie McStay and Danny McGrain's young hoops side will include Thomas Gravesen and Derek Riordan in their line-up.The Glasgow giants have sent what is essentially an under-19 team to the North for this evening's game and Saturdays game against Newry.
Donegal Celtic fans who attend tonight’s fixture will be able to attend the club’s first home game of the season – on Tuesday, August 5 against Ballyclare Comrades – for free.
Paddy Kelly’s Belfast hoops team will abandon the familiar hoops strip tonight
and will be wearing a newly released green and black striped away shirt
New midfield signing Liam Watson is expected to play. Tracked by Portadown, he was added to Kelly’s squad last week, a month after being axed from the Antrim hurling panel for playing in a summer football tournament.
Celtic are without skipper Stephen McAlorum, who broke a bone in his foot recently while Sean Armstrong is carrying a knock and may be ruled out.
Supporters attending tonight's Donegal Celtic vs Celitc XI game at Donegal Celtic Park, are reminded to arrive early at the venue.
