Celtic's Hartley on living the dream
SunSport's Top Man for Celtic over the 2008-09 season Paul Hartley has lived the dream of playing for Celtic. Often sidelined by Gordon Strachan over the last two years and facing an uncertain future with his bhoyhood heroes who await to appoint a new manager.
Hartley receives the SunSport Award
Despite repeated attempts by Rangers to sign him Life Long Hoops fan, Hartley signed for Celtic for £1.1 million on a two-and-a-half-year contract, with the option for a further year, in January 2007.
Hearts are reported as keen to resign the influential playmaker should Celtic not extend his contract
Speaking to the Sun he said
"When you grow up as a kid, dreaming of playing for your heroes, and then it finally happens, it's just brilliant.
"Signing for Celtic was one of the happiest days of my life. Waking up the day I was to be unveiled I was on such a high.
"Knowing I was to be a Celtic player meant the world to me.
"Putting my kit on to train for the first time was an incredible feeling.
"Me being a Celtic player also left my mum and the rest of my family thrilled.
"In fact, I think my mother's enjoyed me playing for Celtic as much as I have!
