Celtic to investigate alleged incident at a Glasgow nightclub early on Monday
Two Celtic football players are believed to be linked to an incident at a Glasgow nightclub early on Monday.
Police said a 23-year-old man, believed to be Celtic and Scotland national team forward Scott Brown, was injured in a minor assault outside the Bamboo nightclub at around 2.30am.
The nightclub is a popular haunt with footballers and other celebrities. A group of Celtic players were at the club on Sunday night after their successful start to the new season. Several members of the first team squad had been seen earlier at a nearby bar
Three men were arrested following the incident, one of whom is believed to be Celtic defender Darren O'Dea. Police would only confirm that a 21-year-old man was arrested for breach of the peace, issued with a fixed fine and released. Two other men, aged 18 and 19 and not footballers, were also arrested. A report has been sent to the procurator fiscal, Strathclyde Police said.
A statement from the nightclub said: "There was an incident where some patrons of our club were attacked in the street after leaving our establishment. Both our stewards and the police intervened to ensure their safety."
Officials at Celtic have since said they are aware of the incident and are investigating.

An attack on Celtic players is nothing new in Glasgow. It's not that long ago that Lennon was the victim of a sectarian assault and McGeady has been harrassed in the recent past about his Irish heritage
